The Sweetheart Pincushion pattern in Ella's Home Place (page 17) needs to be reduced to 74% for correctly sized templates.

Ella’s Linen Flower

The following instructions are for the free give away pattern by MODA fabrics. This pattern uses our new line of fabric ELLA’S LINEN CLOSET. This quilt uses our blue, red and brown fabrics for the flowers. Grab a fat quarter pack and begin making these blocks. Add fabrics from your stash to expand the “scrappy” look of this quilt. These blocks are not for the beginner.

Ella’s Linen Flower pattern printed by MODA fabrics is incorrect. Use the following instructions to make the pictured quilt. Get the stem and leaf template from the pattern on their web site. http://www.modafabrics.com/un_home.nsf/patterns

Quilt size: 76” x 76”

Fabric requirements:

2-1/4 yds. large scale brown floral (#2520-14 MODA fabrics) second border
1-1/3 yd. red print (#2526-11) first border and binding (fabric requirements figured by piecing this border)
1/3 yd. each of a large scale print in tan and red (#2520-11 red and #2520-15 tan)
Fat quarters of red, brown, tan, blue, and green prints from Ella’s linen closet.

Instructions for one block:
These cutting measurements include a 1/4" seam allowance.

Cut the following:

Piece A: Cut 3 tan squares 2-1/2" x 2-1/2".

Piece B: Cut 2 red, blue or brown squares 2-7/8" x 2-7/8". Cut each in half once on the diagonal.

Piece B: Cut 2 green and 1 tan squares 2-7/8" x 2-7/8". Cut each in half once on the diagonal. (The green “B” triangles are located under piece D.)

Piece C: Cut 1 tan square 5-1/4" x 5-1/4". Cut in half twice on the diagonal. The results will be 4 triangles. Set aside two
triangles for the next block.

Piece D: Cut 1 red, blue or brown square 4-7/8" x 4-7/8". Cut in half on the diagonal once. Set aside the remaining triangle for the next block.

Piece E: Cut 1 tan square 4-1/2" x 4-1/2". I have drawn the stem and leaves on my computer program. (I'm not very good at it yet.) Use the templates provided with the pattern. Applique one stem and two leaf shapes to piece E.

Refer to the sewing guide and sew 36 pieced blocks together.

Solid blocks: Cut 4 red, 4 brown and 5 tan blocks 8-1/2” x 8-1/2” from the large scale florals.
Refer to the picture and sew the quilt top together. (#2520-11 red, #2520-15 tan, and #2520-14 brown)

Refer to the picture on MODA'S web-site and/or the pattern cover and sew the quilt top together.

First Border:

Cut 2 borders 2-1/2” x 56-1/2” from your red print. Sew one to each side of the quilt top.
Cut 2 borders 2-1/2” x 60-1/2” from your red print. Sew one each to the top and bottom of the quilt top.

Second Border:

Cut 2 borders 8-1/2” x 60-1/2” from the brown floral print (#2520-14 MODA fabrics). Sew one to each side of the quilt top.
Cut 2 borders 8-1/2” x 76-1/2” from the brown floral print and sew one each to the top and bottom of the quilt.
